Position Summary:
In accordance with the Visit Anchorage mission, this position works under the direct supervision of the Controller to record, compute, and verify numerical data and assist the Controller in general office duties in order to develop and maintain accurate financial records. This position will also support shared services in the operations of the building to include reception, courier, and in-office event set up.
Essential Job Functions:
· Records accounts payable transactions to include account coding, correct vendor, correct date, correct invoice numbering and other elements of data entry as necessary to produce timely and accurate records
· File payables and support accounting’s central and digital filing system
· Receives and posts all checks, cash and credit cards, daily
· Complete biweekly/monthly VIC cash drawer reconciliation
· Provide administrative and accounting assistance to Controller
· General reception responsibilities (open & close the office, greet visitors, answer phones, supply ordering)
· Support Visit Anchorage staff in accessing data from the accounting database
· Assist in monthly reconciliation entries
· Answer questions from customers and staff relevant to A/R and A/P transactions
· Assist with registration for Monthly Membership Luncheons and other events (by request)
· Assist with event planning tasks (research, ordering, logistics)
· Model the Visit Anchorage Core Values in the performance of all job functions
· Perform other related duties as assigned
Essential Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:
· High school diploma or GED
· Two years of higher education or equivalent general office experience
· Working knowledge of computerized accounting and the ability to operate general office equipment
· Advanced computer skills with a major emphasis on file management including working knowledge of MS Great Plains Dynamics, MS Windows, MS Office 2007, Adobe,and Simple View information management software (or similar)
· Excellent communication skills to effectively answer questions, increase efficiency, and reinforce ACVB’s Core Values when interacting with all staff, vendors, and clients
· Demonstrated effective time management skills, organizational skills, self-motivation, flexibility, and ability to manage multiple projects
· Work requires the ability to read, write, collate, sort, staple and file
· Advanced written communication skills to compose, edit, and proofread business correspondence and reports
· Proven flexibility in managing multiple projects and demonstrated effective time management skills
· Working knowledge of, and ability to perform basic troubleshooting for, standard office equipment including, fax machines, phones, copier, and scanners
· Ability to type 45 wpm with accuracy
· Ability to sort and index files for input, ability to sit at a computer, and vision acuity to read VDT and reports
· Analytical ability necessary to exercise sound judgment, handle complex tasks with minimal supervision, and anticipate the needs of others
· Work requires a valid Alaska driver’s license

· Hours and Expectations: Open office at 8am, one hour for lunch, close office at 5 pm. This is NOT a remote position. Overtime available activity dependent.
· Physical demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit for extended periods of time, stand and walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, and ability to adjust focus.
· Work environment: The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
