New Year's Events in Anchorage

After sunset, celebrate New Year’s Eve downtown. The festivities run from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. in the Chinook parking lot at 3rd Avenue and E Street. The Anchorage Downtown Partnership organizes the annual celebration, which features live music performances. You can also tune in on your car radio. The fireworks display goes up at 8 p.m.

There are several events, VIP receptions, and other festivities to extend the night. The Hotel Captain Cook is the scene of a Wizard of Oz themed New Year's Eve bash. There's also still time to check out winter lights at both the Alaska Botanical Garden and the Alaska Zoo.
