Hike one of Anchorage's most popular trails, just above Hillside. Flattop Mountain Trail is accessible at the Glen Alps trailhead. This 1.5-mile well-maintained trail has an elevation gain of 1280 feet with a moderately difficult climb to the peak. The location has amazing city and ocean views and is known for watching sunsets and the northern lights.
Dogs: Welcome, on a leash.
Parking: All Chugach State Park trails require a day-use parking pass or parking decal.
As with all trails in Alaska, hikers should be prepared, dress in layers, and bring plenty of water, snacks, sunscreen, a map of the area, bear spray, and a well-charged cell phone.
