The Alaska Railroad is your ticket to Alaska adventure. In the summer, multiple trains depart daily from Anchorage. The Coastal Classic Train makes a daily round-trip journey between Anchorage, Girdwood and Seward, allowing for a full day of exploring Seward before the return journey; day cruises into nearby Kenai Fjords National Park are popular. The northbound Denali Star Train departs Anchorage for Wasilla, Talkeetna, and Denali National Park before arriving to Fairbanks, while the southbound Denali Star makes the reverse journey daily. And the Glacier Discovery Train offers many day trips from Anchorage; passengers may disembark in Whittier for a cruise in Prince William Sound, Spencer Glacier Whistle Stop for guided hiking, rafting or ice climbing, or simply stay on board for incredible views. Mid-September to mid-May, the Aurora Winter Train connects Anchorage, Talkeetna and Fairbanks on weekends. Two classes of passenger service: glass-domed GoldStar Service and comfortably appointed Adventure Class. Enjoy onboard dining and local guides sharing the stories behind the sights as you travel along the rails. Learn more at AlaskaRailroad.com.
