Westchester Lagoon

Westchester Lagoon is a favorite urban oasis, tucked away from the daily bustle but only a stone’s throw away from city high-rises.

The serene scene attracts people seeking time out from the daily grind. Peace and quiet means more than just human life. Watch birds including ducks, pigeons, and geese nest for the summer on the small island, or head over to the boardwalk and watch salmon returning to Anchorage to spawn.

Park benches, playground equipment, and even a small café might make you linger longer. You may even spot a canoeist, stand up paddle boarder, or remote control boat out on the water.

Westchester is along the Tony Knowles Coastal Trail and the western starting point for the Chester Creek Trail. Bike rentals are the perfect way to start exploring Westchester and beyond.
