Anchorage hotel occupancy was 63% for October 2024, a slight decrease from the same month last year, bringing the year-to-date occupancy to 71%. Gross hotel revenue remained solid at $26 million due to modest year-over-year gains to ADR, which averaged $169/night for the month.
Travel through Anchorage's airport was up slightly from the previous October, with more than 182,000 people passing through security.
Convention season is in full swing, with the arrival of First Alaskan Elders & Youth, immediately followed by the Alaska Federation of Natives Annual Convention. The conferences draw Alaskans from all over the state.
Meetings and conventions are expected to approach $135 million in direct economic spending in the community for 2024. That forecast is a early, conservative estimate, but would still edge past 2023 to become the best year for meetings in Anchorage.
