July 2024 saw significant increases to airport volume, and better demand for Anchorage hotels than the same time last year.

Hotel Performance Posts Best Results of the Season

Demand in July improved by 1.3% year over year and average daily rate increased $301. Occupancy was 88.6%, an increase of 1.2% from the same month last year and bringing the YTD occupancy to 69.7%. YTD hotel revenue reached $257.4 million in July after adding $67.3 million in the month, which was an increase of 5.8% from 2023 YTD revenue.

Airport Passenger Volume Increases

More than 347,000 people passed through security at Anchorage's airport in July, up 20% from June and up 5.8% comparing to July 2023. Overall seat capacity for the airport this year is up by almost 5%, and passenger numbers suggest that many of those new seats are being filled, one sign of a continuing demand for travel to Anchorage.
