Expedia placed Anchorage on it's 15 Best Places to Experience American Culture, noting the city's diverse makeup, and cultural attractions including the Alaska Native Heritage Center and Alaska Jewish Museum.

"Interesting culture almost always lies just around the corner in a place as diverse and unique as America," the article's authors point out. Anchorage is home to members of each of Alaska's many Native cultures. There are around 100 languages spoken in the Anchorage School District, with vibrant Filipino, Hmong, Polynesian and Latino communities, just to name a few.

Studies by UAA sociology professor Chad Farrel show that Anchorage has the most diverse schools in the U.S. at all levels.
