The 27th Annual Celebrity Chef Invitational turned the spotlight onto Alaska’s emerging culinary workforce.

Hosted by University of Alaska Anchorage’s Culinary Arts and Hospitality Program at UAA’s Lucy Cuddy Hall Nov. 3, the black-tie event featured a five-course dinner filled with local ingredients. Celebrity Chef Kevin Lane from The Cookery and The Lone Chicharrón Taqueria in Seward, Alaska, guided a team of local student, faculty, and volunteer local chefs prepare the meal.

Net proceeds of the event benefit the UAA Culinary Arts and Hospitality Administration Fund by providing scholarships and state-of-the-art culinary equipment.

The Culinary Arts and Hospitality Administration program helps students acquire culinary, management, and hospitality skills for a career in the hospitality and food service industry. The program has 100 percent job placement and is accredited by the American Culinary Federation Education Foundation Accrediting Commission (ACFEFAC). Many of the program’s students will go on to restaurant and hotel positions in Anchorage, which means they may be the creative force behind your next great Alaska meal.
