The Anchorage Running Club’s Big Wild Life Runs has changed its name to the Anchorage RunFest. With seven race classifications ranging from a Kids' 2K to a 49K ultra, the weekend-long event has taken on a festival-like atmosphere over the past few years. The re-branding effort had been in the works since last winter. After seven years in the Anchorage community and the addition of many races, race committee members have decided to choose a name that better captures the large-‐scale running event. Anchorage RunFest is the largest event and main fundraiser for the Anchorage Running Club, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Some of the funds raised through this event are used to award college scholarships to deserving high school runners, donate to high school sports teams and support other organizations in the community that are in line with the Club’s mission to promote a healthy lifestyle through running and exercise. Some of the funds are also used to help defray the costs of the Kids' 2K (free for all participants) The Anchorage RunFest will be held on August 20 & 21, 2022.
