Day 1 The Gifts of Girdwood

Morning
Drive 45 minutes along scenic Turnagain Arm and Chugach Mountains to Alyeska Resort in Girdwood. Board the tram for a ride up the side of one of North America’s steepest ski runs, the North Face. Grab lunch at the summit, and check out the free exhibits at the Roundhouse Museum. Thrill-seekers can launch off the mountain for an amazing tandem paraglide

Afternoon
There are a lot of adventures to choose from. “Learn the ropes” of rock climbing at Tram Rock. Explore Crow Creek Gold Mine, an original mining camp dating back to the 1890s (summer only) and stop and shop in the Kobuk Valley Jade Co. In winter, explore Alaska's scenic backcountry on snowmobile with access to glaciers, icebergs and ice caves. A slow and easy ride through open fields and forested trails is perfect for groups with younger kids.

Evening
Feast in a funky Girdwood restaurant. This small town has huge culinary cred. You’ll find menus featuring Mediterranean, New Orleans-style dishes, famous steaks, Alaska seafood, gourmet burgers, and sushi.
