Overview
Honors Alaskan veterans' service and sacrifice. Come and relive stories of Alaska’s Servicemen and women through oral histories, documentaries, artifacts, uniforms, pictures posters and models. Alaska’s unique military history, where all five armed Services had a role in governing and shaping our state, comes alive with a trip to the Alaska Veterans Museum. The three missions of the museum are all in evidence: create a venue ensuring’ “They shall not be forgotten” by displaying artifacts, oral histories, models, weapons and other accoutrements; educate the public about military service and the sacrifices of our Armed Forces in the defense of freedom; support to our Active Duty, Guard and Reserve veterans though Fan Mail for Troops, making and shipping cooling scarves for deployed Alaskans; and sponsoring the Marine Corps Reserve unit and programs for veterans. Join us for meet-the –author events, movies, lectures, special celebrations and more.
