Wrangell Mountain Air
Since 1992, Wrangell Mountain Air has been the premier flight service provider within America’s largest, and largely unknown, national park. Based in McCarthy, Alaska, Wrangell Mountain Air is poised in the middle of Wrangell-St. Elias National Park’s 13.2 million acres, permitting easy and immediate access to expansive glaciers, craggy mountain peaks, and braided glacial rivers that lie waiting to be admired from above or traversed by daring adventurers. Reliable and experienced pilots provide convenient service between Chitina and McCarthy three times daily, allowing visitors to experience a beautiful 30 minute trip into the heart of the Park. Charter air taxi service is also available to and from most places in Alaska. Day-trip packages include the Chitina flights, delicious lunch, and guided glacier hiking or tour of the iconic Kennecott copper mill building. Adventurous travelers may choose fly-in basecamping, rafting, or multi-day backcountry hiking. World-class flight-seeing is available in all directions; even guests with extensive aviation experience are aghast at the majesty of the Wrangells from the air.
