Squid Acres Kennel Dog Sled Tours
Join Iditarod and Yukon Quest mushers, Cody Strathe and Paige Drobny, and the amazing canine athletes of Squid Acres Kennel to experience the joys of mushing. Squid Acres Kennel offers year-round, hands-on mushing experiences for private or small groups near Denali. Cody and Paige have been raising and training sled dogs since 2006. Combined, they have run a total of eighteen one thousand-mile races with top ten finishes in the Iditarod and Yukon Quest and multiple veterinarian’s choice awards for exemplary dog care. In 2016, they became the first married couple to both run and finish the Yukon Quest and Iditarod in the same year. Don’t miss your chance to learn from experienced mushers. Squid Acres offers an educational, summer mushing experience. Participants will have the chance to meet the dogs, one on one, learn what makes them supreme winter athletes and then go for a ride with the team on a 5 passenger ATV. Through these experiences, participants will learn what it takes to run 1000 miles by dogsled in the arctic wilderness. Afterwards, participants will not want to miss the chance to hang out in the puppy play pen, check out Cody’s dogsled building projects and visit the gift shop. In winter, join team Squid to go mushing on the scenic mountainous Denali Highway. Participants can choose a two hour tour with sled ride, learn to mush their own team in a half day mushing school, ride in the dogsled to a remote camp and watch for the elusive aurora borealis, run their own team to a heated tent camp on an overnight camping trip or put themselves on the runners like an Iditarod musher for a multi-day expedition. Squid Acres Kennel Dogsled Tours is located in Cantwell, Alaska, a few miles from the border of Denali National Park. Transportation is offered in the area between Cantwell and Healy, and arrangements can be made for transportation from Anchorage. Tours are designed for private or small groups to get a high-end experience.
