Musk Ox Farm, Museum and Gift Shop

Visit Website

For over 60 years the nonprofit Musk Ox Farm has been striving to bring geographically appropriate agriculture to remote communities in the far north. Our approach to gentle and sustainable agriculture is built upon the strong backs and the soft fiber these majestic animals produce. Qiviut, musk ox under-wool, is eight-times warmer than sheep’s wool and one of nature’s softest fibers. Join us for a scenic walk around our historic colony farm while our interpretive staff offer insight into the lives of the only gently hand-combed musk oxen in the world. You will also discover the history of our project and the incredible potential these arctic ungulates have to offer communities in the far north. You will see frisky calves, seasoned old bulls, and the largest captive herd of musk oxen in the world. Don’t forget your camera and good walking shoes!
