Bethel Chamber of Commerce

Bethel is the business hub of the Yukon Kuskokwim. Bethel has the third busiest airport, the Lower Kuskokwim School's district office, area hospital, court system & shopping for 56 villages in area. Bethel is a place one can visit and experience the culture of the local Yupik people. You will hear the Yupik language spoken, grass baskets still being made and fish and berries processed as a way of subsistence living. The Camai Native Dance Festival is a main event in late March or early April. This is a celebration of culture through art and dance performed by many local and international indigenous groups. Bethel is also the home of the K-300 Sled Dog Race held each January, bringing many of the top dog mushers to compete.
