Join us for an evening of celebrating Alaskan veterans and raising funds so that "Real Alaska Warriors," a 13-segment reality TV series, can be aired on the American Heroes Channel.
A full dinner will be served by La Cabana Restaurant including halibut, enchiladas, tacos, salads and more. No host bar. Dinner will be followed with a chance to hear from some of Alaska's military elite and veterans involved in the series. On "Real Alaska Warriors," guide and veteran Scott Vanderlooven takes different wounded Alaska veterans on a hunting or fishing trip. While each segment shares the mystique and wonder of Alaska’s scenery and fishing and hunting, the show is more of a chance to learn about each vet and his story. Wounded veterans don’t generally want to talk about their experiences, but a challenging wilderness setting and bonding time with other veterans has a way of bringing out the experiences in a way that can be healing and less traumatic. Real Alaska Warriors will share more compelling stories about real Alaska heroes who have served our country and were willing to sacrifice it all. At the same time, viewers get to see different parts of the 49th state and to learn about the unique fishing and hunting adventures that can be found in a place like nowhere else on earth. As the wonder of Alaska surrounds Scott and his honored guests, viewers will go deep into the life of a wounded veteran. "Real Alaska Warriors" develops the contrast between beauty and horror in the human mind, how the ebb and flow of our past experiences effect who we are today.
