Speakers from around the country will be at the Anchorage Museum this fall to highlight and discuss themes from the Contemporary North in conjunction with the new "Alaska" exhibition.
Sherman Alexie, is a poet, short story writer, novelist and performer. His work garnered him the PEN/Faulkner Award for Fiction, the PEN/Malamud Award for Short Fiction, a PEN/Hemingway Citation for Best First Fiction, and the National Book Award for Young People’s Literature. His screenplay for the film Smoke Signals – based on his short story “This is What it Means to say Phoenix, Arizona” - won the 1998 Sundance Film Festival Audience Award and Filmmakers Trophy.
