- Date: Mar 20, 2018
- Times: 7 p.m.
- Location: Anchorage Museum
Eileen Norbert presents on the book, "Menadelook," which showcases nearly one hundred photographs taken by Inupiaq photographer Charles Menadelook and documents life in Wales, in the Bering Strait between Alaska and Russia, in the early 20th century. Photographs of Inupiaq life in this period are rare, and photographs taken by an indigenous person in this era rarer still. These photographs provide a view into Inupiaq lifeways during the early decades of the last century and give both a pictorial and Alaska Native perspective on Inupiaq traditions and historical events. Use museum’s 7th Avenue entrance.
