Learn about the lifecycle of chinook and coho salmon, rainbow trout, and Arctic char. Each year, 6 million sport fish are reared and released from the facility's 100 tanks. Join a guided tour of the state hatchery in Anchorage. Hatchery staff provide free, guided tours three days a week.
Follow the outdoor footpath down to Ship Creek. From early July through September, adult chinook and coho salmon can often be seen in this stretch of the creek.
Drop-in visits for self-guided tours of the visitor corridor are also welcomebetween 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. daily. This space was set aside for public access to allow viewing of hatchery activity.
