Even when December temperatures dip into the single digits, it’s always warm around the crackling fire pit at the 49th State Brewing Co.’s Downtown Anchorage Holiday Market.

The outdoor market space stays toasty with holiday cheer. We pick up a steaming cup of hot cocoa, then browse the vendor booths assembled under sparkling strings of lights. Nearby, kids wait for an audience with Santa Claus. A horse-drawn carriage picks up passengers for a ride around downtown. Families pose for portrait sessions in time for last-minute holiday cards, while others stop by for some quick shopping before or after dinner at one of the many popular restaurants in the area.

Anchorage’s holiday markets are one of my favorite winter traditions in the city. Revel in the spirit of the season (and find plenty to celebrate) at these four local markets this winter 2021.
