Tour Guide Position Summary

Guiding tourists: As the name implies, a major responsibility of working as a guide is leading groups and individuals on tours. This may require guides to have the route mapped out beforehand and for them to share interesting facts with their guests about Alaska as they pass places/sites along the way. We are searching for a vibrant tour guide to join our team. The role of the Tour Guide - Driver is to provide safe transportation for guests while providing narrated tours and ensuring that the group remains safe at all times. To ensure success as a tour guide, you should be an excellent storyteller with a knack for customer service. An outstanding tour guide will perform minor alterations to each itinerary to suit the unique interests of each group.

Availability: Full Time. Season runs May through October 2022.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Greeting and welcoming our guests to the tour.

  • Informing our guests about the itinerary for each tour.

  • Performs a variety of customer service and driving tasks.

  • Routinely drives a mini bus, provides narrated tours and share local knowledge with our guests.

  • Planning alternate activities in the event that cancellations, closures, or weather prohibit you from following the scheduled itinerary.

  • Assisting guests as they embark and disembark the mini bus.

  • Personable, humorous disposition.

  • Outstanding organizational, time management, and improvisational skills.

  • Passionate about traveling and Alaska.

  • Performs safety inspections on vehicle and maintains the interior and exterior cleanliness of the vehicle.

Tour Guide Requirements and Qualifications

  • Prior experience as a tour guide is advantageous.

  • Experience with public speaking is a plus.

  • Able to memorize and recite facts clearly and accurately.

  • Fluent in English - bilingual a plus.

  • Exceptional communication skills.

  • Flexible schedule.

  • Ensuring the safe operation of the mini-bus while speaking to passengers, answering questions and providing narration.

  • Must be 21 years of age or older.

  • Current, valid driver's license, with three (3 years clean driving record. Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) will be requested.

  • Must meet Company's clean driver eligibility requirements.

  • Must be certified as physically qualified through a Department of Transportation (DOT) physical and drug screen.

  • Must be US citizen or able to legally work in the United States.
