Hotel revenue for the first quarter of 2018 was more than $32.2 million, according to Municipality of Anchorage reporting released this week. The report put Q1 bed tax collections at $3.8 million, up slightly compared to the same period in 2017. The slight growth in hotel revenue and tax collections for the quarter can be attributed to modest increases in average daily rate. Historically, the first quarter of the year typically accounts for about 15 percent of total bed tax collections.
Rental car tax collections for the municipality during the same period were $616,781, slightly less than that collected in Q1 2017.
