Job Description:
ASM Global is contracted by Visit Anchorage on behalf of the Municipality of Anchorage for Facility Management of the Anchorage Convention Centers (Dena’ina and Egan). ASM GLOBAL’s responsibilities include local Anchorage bookings, limited marketing and all food & beverage operations. The Sales Manager (SM) is part of a sales/marketing/event team responsible for local sales and client event coordination with an emphasis on sales/events with Food & Beverage aspects. The SM works with existing accounts and acquires new business, using all sales & marketing tools available including site tours and on/off-premises presentations to optimize financial results for the Centers. The SM interacts with clients in great detail before their event, welcomes the client at the start of their event, manages the event in person if needed, depending on scheduling and personally ensures services provided meet contractual obligations. The SM follows up with the client to evaluate our service and with the goal of booking repeat business. The Centers’ sales team books events up to one year in advance. Bookings more than one year in advance are finalized by the Visit Anchorage sales team. On occasion, the SM may be called upon to support the Visit Anchorage Convention/Meetings Sales staff, especially when it comes to adding or attracting F&B business. The SM is self-managed and works independently to seek out new revenue, from pursuing new prospects to upselling existing events, to help expand our client base. As part of the Sales & Event team, the SM supports all colleagues whenever needed. It is not unusual for the SM to be needed in person during an early morning, late evening, weekend and/or holiday.
TASKS
1. Retain and where possible expand sales to existing local business accounts
2. Develop new business by identifying prospects with a preference for F&B service
3. Represent the Centers to relevant local organizations in Anchorage
4. Assist other Center Managers to optimize event profitability including off-premises catering
5. Develop proposals, sales contracts and addendums and monitor compliance
6. Meet prompt return requirements in submitting proposals to clients
7. Maintain monthly Sales Activity Tracking report
8. Informs clients timely of ASM Global building policy and procedures
9. Coordinate with other departments to ensure that contractual obligations to clients and ASM Global service standards are met
10. Assure a “meet & greet” at the start of client’s event. In-person presence of the SM will be required regularly during the event, in coordination with Event Managers
11. Coordinate with and provide support to Event Managers and Food & Beverage staff
12. Ability to work irregular hours in addition to normal business hours, to include early mornings, evenings, weekends and holidays as needed
13. Ability to maintain a productive, team-oriented relationship with staff and sub-contractors
14. Ability to travel via auto is required
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's degree from four-year College or University in Hotel or Hospitality Management or Sales/Marketing or related field is preferred Event Management, Sales, and/or Food/Beverage experience in a Convention Hotel, Convention Center or Hospitality Industry in general is preferred Extensive knowledge of Food & Beverage sales and/or operations is a plus Highly detail-oriented to cover the myriad aspects needed to make an event successful Ability to organize, direct and coordinate staff and activities Knowledge of building capacities, local codes, Municipal/legal rules and regulations is a plus Networking with the local business community is required Ability to interact professionally with the public, clients and staff Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing In possession of a valid Alaska Driver’s License The above can be met with a combination of education and training experience.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Requires attention to detail, logical reasoning, ability to formulate ideas and opinions, ability to handle multiple priorities, ability to anticipate needs of the company, ability to implement short and long-term solutions to needs, ability to plan and implement projects, ability to resolve customer service issues. Requires working under deadlines or pressure, dealing with difficult people or situations involving complex issues, and establishing and maintaining cooperative and productive work relationships. Must have outgoing, positive attitude in dealing with clientele and employees. Starting pay: $24.00 - $27.00 per hour
