Alyeska Resort will open with limited terrain for Saturday, December 9, for the 2017/18 ski season. The Resort has moved up the original date by a week given the favorable weather window with cold temperatures for snow making crews. The snow makers have been working around the clock to put down a solid base of man-made snow to offer a variety of terrain for opening weekend. In addition to the man-made snow, Alyeska Resort is receiving a healthy amount of natural snow on the mountain and more terrain is expected to open with more natural snow coverage in the coming weeks. Lifts for opening weekend will be determined based on what weather conditions allow. The Alyeska Aerial Tram will also be open starting Friday, December 8, for sightseeing and access to Bore Tide Deli & Bar.

“As we promised earlier in the year, we will operate the resort more dynamically based on how weather cooperates and between continued good snow making temperatures, as well as the natural snow we are receiving, we will be able to open prior to the scheduled date.” said John Byrne, owner of Alyeska Resort.  The Sitzmark will also open at noon on Friday for the season and will have an Ullerfest bonfire celebration that night with live music from Colorado-based Arthur Lee Land Trio. Starting Saturday, as weather conditions allow, lifts and the tram will operate starting at 10:30 a.m. until 5:30 p.m.

“Our ski season is set to kick off next Saturday and we’re certainly excited about that,” said Brian Burnett, Ski Area General Manager. “We will be offering terrain from the tram down with great coverage for everyone’s skiing and riding pleasure! Getting open for the season is always a challenge, but thanks to the hard work of our snow-making crew we have put down an amazing base and we’re still producing more for additional coverage. Our mountain, lifts, snow safety and ski patrol crews have been doing a tremendous job getting the mountain set up as well. We will open up more terrain as soon as natural snow coverage permits.”

Starting Sunday night, December 10, the resort is offering a great deal for mid-week skiers and riders with the Stay & Ski Free package. Starting at $169 this package includes an overnight stay at The Hotel Alyeska and two adult lift tickets. This package will be offered on Sunday – Thursday and is a great and affordable way to get away. Call (907) 754-2111 to book or visit AlyeskaResort.com.
