Alyeska Resort will keep it’s lifts and tram service open to skiers and riders for an additional week of operations for the 2016/17 ski season. The cold temperatures this winter along with a solid base on the slopes will provide a great ski surface in the spring and will allow the resort to stay open an additional week. Its top chairlift, Glacier Bowl Express, the Aerial Tram, Ted’s Express, Bear Cub Quad and Chair 7 will all operate until Sunday, April 23rd. Chairlift hours will be adjusted to run from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
“Our season pass holders and day ticket users love skiing into the spring time, as do our employees, as do I really” said Brian Burnett, Ski Area General Manager. “We have a great base built up over the winter and we are confident that the snow surface will hold up nicely through the freeze/thaw cycle and many hours of spring time, direct sunlight.”
The Resort was originally scheduled to close on Easter Sunday, April 16. The third Sunday of the month is historically when the Resort shuts down each year. The Sitzmark Bar & Grill as well ad the Bore Tide Deli & Bar will be open for an additional week of operations as well. The Aerial Tramway will be open for sightseers and foot passengers as well during the extra week of operations.
The Resort is offering a great deal to get people staying in the hotel and skiing on the mountain midweek with the Stay & Ski Free Midweek package. This package includes a night stay Sunday – Thursday and up to two lift tickets to be used the day of check in or the next day. This package for the month of April is starting at $139.
