The Grande Denali Lodge was named by the Alaska Hotel and Lodging Association (AkH&LA) as the “Alaska Hotel of the Year”, honoring the property’s leadership role in the hospitality industry in Alaska. Mike Gioga was named Guest Services Manager of the Year, recognizing his excellence as a manager, as well as his involvement in industry and community events. The AkH&LA recognizes exemplary staff and properties each year at the Stars of the Industry awards, a much anticipated and high-profile event in the tourism industry statewide. Accepting the award on Saturday night, accompanied by many of the property’s managers, Joe Merrill, Vice President of Tourism for Old Harbor Native Corporation was clearly delighted.

“Our goal is to provide the best experience possible to our guests,” said Merrill. “We are thrilled to be recognized by our peers at the Alaska Hotel and Lodging Association!”
