Tie Dye Rap
Artist: Hal Gage

Location: Ulu Factory, 2nd Avenue and E Street
Bio: Tie-dye Rap, made by Hal Gage with assistance from Heather Shumar, Sherre Dueno, Charlotte Tharp, and Jeff Poehler, consists of 520 feet of cotton rope used to encase the fiberglass salmon. The rope was patiently dyed in a rainbow of colors in 4-inch segments. The project took a month to complete. Gage was born in Anchorage and went to school at the University of Alaska. Of all his artistic talents, photography is his primary love and he travels to Homer, Alaska, every summer to conduct photography workshops.
