Bio: Paying tribute to the arts community in Anchorage, Salmon Lake, created by Heather and Megan Tauschek, represents poetry in motion. Adorned with brightly colored beads, a flower garland, sparkling sequins, lushly curled eyelashes and a ballerina tutu made from the famous, yet controversial carpet from the Alaska Performing Arts Center, this fish reels of drama. The sisters went “dumpster-diving” to find carpet remnants in their business suits and high heels. The project took 10 days to complete. H. Tauschek is in her fourth year at Weill Cornell Medical College in New York City, having previously earned two bachelor degrees in biochemistry and art from Seattle Pacific University. M. Tauschek holds her degree in interior design from Seattle Pacific University. Both sisters are very active in the arts community.
