Getting Around Alaska

Whether traveling by air, land or sea, visitors to Anchorage find convenient connections inside Alaska during their travels.

Anchorage is a gateway airport for many incoming Alaska travelers. It is also the central spot for air travel inside Alaska, with more intra-state flights than any other place in Alaska. It's also at the center of the state's highway network whether travelling by car, motorhome, or with a charter or motorcoach tour. The Anchorage depot of the Alaska Railroad is the center of Alaska's train system. Alaska's coastal communities can be reached using the Alaska Marine Highway System via nearby Whittier. And with more pilots per capita than anywhere else, reaching remote communities, lodges, waterways and lands is easy with charter air service.
