Arrive in Anchorage at the Ted Steven's International Airport. Salmon Berry Tours will pick you up at the airport and deliver you safely to your charming downtown bed & breakfast home away from home for the week. After breakfast at the B&B Salmon Berry Tours will pick you up and take you on the most amazing scenic drive south of Anchorage where we will begin our snowmobile adventure. This is a favorite Alaska adventure sport never to be forgotten! Each guest over the age of 16 gets their own machine and follows a professional back country guide on an all-ability-levels, amazing ride out into the wilderness through a beautiful valley and all the way to a glacier!

Head south to the quaint ski-town of Girdwood. Once there we’ll take a lovely, all-ability-levels snowshoe through the beautiful meadows of Glacier Valley. You’ll be ready for a hot lunch on the top of the mountain after this! We will get there by aerial tram and have lunch with some amazing mountain-top views. Try the smoked salmon chowder in a sourdough bread bowl! We will visit the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center where you are guaranteed to see real Alaska wildlife!

Relax and sleep in because it's going to be a late star-gazing night! Enjoy the Fur Rendezvous Winter Festival during the day and come evening, Salmon Berry Tours will pick you up and head north to the wonderful winter town of Talkeetna. Here we will dine on homemade soups, breads, and desserts in front of a cozy fire! We will then go out searching for the beautiful Northern Lights! The Star Lady will share with us useful insights into the constellations and the Alaska night sky.

Wake up in picturesque Talkeenta today for a great homemade breakfast. Get bundled up and we'll head out to go dog sledding! This is the day to get first-hand experience with Alaska's official sport. Spend the day with a real Iditarod musher. He will show us gear, supplies, sleds and share with us personal stories from the trail. Get geared up in arctic Alaska mushing gear and hit the trails as you dog sled through the meadows!

Today is the ceremonial start of the Iditarod in downtown Anchorage! Spend the day on your own and enjoy the Fur Rendezvous Winter activities including the fur auction, the blanket toss at 3rd & E (be sure to stop by our office for hot chocolate and coffee we are right next door!), the Melodrama, Big Air Demo and the Miners and Trappers Ball!

This is where you will get the VIP treatment! Join Salmon Berry Tours for homemade scones, coffee and hot chocolate on the way to Willow where the race begins! The official start is one big party on Willow Lake for the day. The Salmon Berry team will serve smoked salmon spread, reindeer hot dogs, veggie dogs, hearty chili, cornbread and brownies! Chute passes available to watch as mushers get ready for their epic journey ahead of them! You really don't want to miss this one!

Board a small aircraft and get yet another diverse view of Alaska as you fly over mountain ranges, frozen rivers, and ancient glaciers headed to Rainy Pass checkpoint. Enjoy an amazing day of watching mushers come through the checkpoint, cheering on your favorites and having a warm lunch at the Rainy Pass Lodge.
