Transportation

Anchorage is not only the largest city in Alaska, it’s also the best connected, with nonstop flights connecting Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport with Los Angeles, Seattle, Portland, Chicago, Minneapolis, Denver, Salt Lake City, Houston, and many other hub cities. Thanks to Anchorage’s location on the globe, it is often the most convenient meeting point for groups with an international membership. And because the Anchorage airport is also one of the biggest cargo hubs in the world, convention logistics are a breeze.

Plus: Delegates can travel from baggage claim to convention center in less than 15 minutes. Downtown Anchorage is only six miles away from the airport, and taxis, rental car companies (there are seven rental car concessions at the airport), hotel shuttles, buses, and motorcoach charters are all available to make the trip.

Besides convenient flight connections, Anchorage offers many other ways to get around.

  • Scenic highways tie Anchorage to various national parks, Interior Alaska, Canada, and the contiguous U.S.
  • The Alaska Railroad runs between Anchorage, Seward to the south, and Fairbanks to the north.
  • The Alaska Marine Highway System provides ferry service between Anchorage-area ports, other communities along Alaska’s southern coast, and Bellingham, Wash.
