Snow Fun for Kids
Kids and winter go together like hot chocolate and marshmallows. Anchorage's 2,000-square-mile winter playground means plenty of room for sledding, snowball fights, snow angels and skiing.
Day 1 Play in the Snow
Build a snowman or make a snow angel on the Delaney Park Strip, play hide-and-seek among intricate ice carvings in Town Square. Or take a toe-curling thrill ride down one of Anchorage’s numerous sledding hills. Find novice slopes at Balto Seppala Park, located at Wisconsin and 32nd Avenue, and moderate to advanced hills at Kincaid Park and Hilltop Ski Area. Social skaters seeking a scene straight out of a postcard can kick around the warming barrels and laughing families at Westchester Lagoon.
Contemplate the magnitude of the universe in a planetarium, stand inside a bubble or learn the principles of physics while playing with specialized toys at the Anchorage Museum's Imaginarium Discovery Center. The hands-on galleries enable families to explore science together.
