All aboard for the train trip of a lifetime! Anchorage got its big start as headquarters for construction of the rail line linking Fairbanks and Seward to Anchorage. Even today, the railroad is a great way to see a key areas of the state. Ride the rails from the the Anchorage depot for amazing journeys through Alaska wilderness complemented by a variety of outdoors activities.
Day 1 All Aboard

Morning
Board the Alaska Railroad in Anchorage for the scenic trip south. The tracks follow the shoreline on Turnagain Arm, so admire the spectacular Alaska wilderness and keep an eye out for wildlife. When you reach the Spencer Glacier stop, it’s time to deboard.

Grab a deli-style lunch before heading for the lake. You’ll take a gentle float tour among the icebergs at Spencer Lake and down the Placer River. Professional guides, raingear and rubber boots are provided.
