Hockey action kicks off in October with University of Alaska Anchorage’s Kendall Hockey Classic. The four team, preseason tournament is perfect for hockey fans who need an early fix of their favorite sport. Plan to take in some frozen pond action Oct. 11-12, 2013 at Sullivan Arena. The UAA Seawolves defend their tournament title against University of Alaska Fairbanks, Air Force and Quinnipiac University. The Classic coincides with UAA’s homecoming festivities.

The tournament was originally known as the First Interstate Classic when it began in 1984. In 1993, it was discontinued when the Seawolves joined the WCHA. Then it was reborn in 1999 when the WCHA reduced its league schedule to 28 games.
In 21 previous tournaments, eight teams that played in the Classic have advanced to the Frozen Four that same year.
