Chugach State Park is the nation’s third largest State Park and virtually Anchorage’s backyard playground. One great way to explore it is from an all-terrain vehicle (ATV).

ATV tours are available for visitors of most ages and fitness levels. Almost everyone is delighted at how easy and fun it is to ride an ATV. After a safety briefing and few minutes of instruction, riders don goggles and helmets then take a few spins around the trailhead to prepare for a wilderness adventure.

Patient guides with loads of enthusiasm lead riders through a rapid transition from “civilization” to complete wilderness. There’s plenty to oooh and ahhh while passing wildflower meadows, crashing waterfalls and jaw-dropping river canyons.

Perhaps best of all, riders have a “bird’s-eye view” (pun intended), of a variety of wildlife. Similar to a game of “Eye Spy,” observant riders can help the group spot a variety of fauna including eagles, Dall sheep, bear and moose. Opportunities abound for eager shutterbugs to capture the grandeur of the moment and preserve it for a lifetime.

Most riders return with grit in their teeth and smiles on their faces - THIS is the Alaska they imagined! Tours range from two to three hours, to multi-day adventures. Many include beverages, snacks or full meals, and all tours include the gear necessary to have a great experience.
