NEWS RELEASE

Girdwood, Alaska –April 5, 2004

ESPN to feature Alaska and the 2004 Chevrolet U.S. Alpine Championships this Wednesday

On Wednesday, April 7, ESPN will feature coverage of the 2004 Chevrolet U.S. Alpine Championships from Girdwood, Alaska. The coverage will include the championship downhill, super-G, giant slalom, and slalom events that were held at Alyeska Resort this past March. The championships are scheduled to air on ESPN (Anchorage GCI cable channel 29) at 10:00 a.m. AST, Wednesday, April 7.

“This is a great opportunity for everyone to relive the excitement, energy, and enthusiasm the event brought to Alaska,” said Larry Daniels, general manager of Alyeska Ski Area. “The national audience will be in for a treat, Alaska really shined throughout the event.”

In addition to the ski racing coverage, ESPN will showcase Girdwood, Anchorage and Southcentral Alaska as the host site.

The Chevrolet U.S. Alpine Championships is considered the highest level of domestic ski racing. World Cup stars Daron Rahlves, Bode Miller, and Jonna Mendes are among the athletes competing with over 200 alpine racers vying for the attention of the national coaching staff and an opportunity for a national championship title.
