Although it’s fun to promote the mystique of wild Alaska, the truth is…Anchorage weather is downright tame. The climate is actually mild year-round. The encircling mountain ranges protect the city from northern fronts and warm Japanese currents flow in from the south. The two forces combine to create a climate similar to the Pacific Northwest in the summer or the Rockies in the winter.
