EVENT ALERT

Anchorage, Alaska (September 1, 2003)

ACVB FALL FAM PROMOTES ANCHORAGE ECONOMY

WHO: Anchorage Convention & Visitors Bureau (ACVB) Fall 2003 Meeting Planner Fam will host more than 27 meeting planners and guests from around the United States. The potential economic impact to Anchorage is more than $11 million. Fam delegates include participants from Virginia, Washington DC, Florida, New Mexico, California and Colorado.

WHAT: Fam participants will begin arriving in Anchorage Sept. 9, 2003, and will be visiting the city and surrounding communities. A few of the locations the group will tour are the William A. Egan Civic and Convention Center, the Alaska Center for the Performing Arts, local hotels and other venues for meetings and functions. Part of the Fam includes introducing meeting planners to the wide variety of activities available to participate within the Anchorage bowl. While in Anchorage, meeting planners will experience 4-wheeling, wildlife viewing, shopping, horseback riding, kayaking, Native culture, flightseeing and nightlife.

WHY: Fam groups are one of the several tools the ACVB convention sales team uses to sell Anchorage. The bi-annual Fam trips familiarize meeting planners with meeting facilities, activities, attractions, hotels and transportation options. Meetings are currently booked as far in advance as 2010.
