Anchorage’s extensive trail system is one of the best in the United States, according to a past issue of Bicycling Magazine. The American Hiking Society agrees, naming Anchorage second on a recent list of Top Trail Towns.

The 120 miles (193 km) of paved trails and 300 miles (482 km) of unpaved and wilderness trail offer endless opportunities for visitors to get out and enjoy some of the most natural, well-kept trails year-round.

The Eagle River Nature Center, just 45 minutes from downtown Anchorage, is a gateway to Chugach State Park. Open year-round, knowledgeable staff guide nature walks and lead fun, engaging outdoor activities for all ages. www.ernc.org
