Feast on Fall

Giant cabbages take center stage at the Alaska State Fair, farmer’s showcase their harvest at local markets and fall menus feature Alaska-grown produce – all signs that the season of comfort food is here!

Celebrate and savor the bounty of Alaska’s farming community. Meet local farmers at fresh air markets through October, and be sure and check out local restaurants for fall fare and special events.

What to do after devouring Alaska’s hearty foods? Take it outdoors for the Tuesday Night Race Series, an Anchorage fall family tradition, or head to the theatre. The 2009-10 performing arts season begins with a roar when the Lion King opens Sept. 2, 2009.

Sign up for the Anchorage.net weekly events e-mail to hear about all the local happenings.

A Fall Classic

As summer fades into fall, and crisp September nights leave behind termination dust over the Chugach Mountains, the Autumn Classics are a sure sign the Anchorage performing art season is heating up! True to tradition, the renowned artists of the Sitka Summer Music Festival will perform memorable and emotionally rich concerts in Anchorage, Sept. 18 – 20 and Sept. 25 - 27, 2009.
