2009 World Beard and Moustache Championships - Anchorage, Alaska, USA

Furry Faces for a Good Cause

Profits from the World Beard and Moustache Championships will benefit several local charities including Camp Abilities, The American Diabetes Association and The Alaska Center for the Blind and Visually Impaired.

Bearded Entertainment

Australian folk rock band, The Beards, are in Anchorage, Alaska, for an exclusive engagement Friday, May 22, 2009. The Beards’ set list features songs about having the hirsute and the world they live in, and facial hair is a requirement for band members. Two of the band members are competing in the Championships for the first time.

It’s like Watching Hair Grow

It takes anywhere from months, to years to grow an award-winning beard and/or moustache. Just how long? It depends on the person and the category they are competing in.

Men with Beards, and the People who Love Them

Many competitors are traveling with their families. Competing for the title of World Champion takes commitment from not only the competitors, but those who are closest to them as well.

Manscaping out, Facial Hair in.

Even the men in Hollywood are a little furrier than usual lately. With the recent trend in beard growing, competitors in the WBMC are fashion forward. There’s a style for every taste and beard or moustache length.
