Anchorage, Alaska, Hotels Gear Up for Summer Season, Recent Upgrades at Several Properties

Anchorage, Alaska – May 18, 2009 – Travel and tourism is the second largest private sector employer in Alaska. The travel and tourism industry remains a viable, economic driver of Anchorage’s economy, as evidenced by the private sector’s continued investment in the area.

In addition to the city’s new construction, with the completion of the Dena’ina Civic and Convention Center and several new hotels, significant money has been invested in renovations to several longstanding hotels in the Anchorage area.

The following properties have recently completed renovations:

Hilton Anchorage: Extensive guestroom renovations were completed over the past two winter seasons. Guests at the hotel will enjoy new carpet, fresh wall coverings, updated bathrooms and new furniture. Guestrooms will feature the Hilton Serenity bedding and amenities packages.

New carpeting was also installed in several thousand square feet of public and function space. The Chart Room and Top of the World private function spaces both received new bar areas, while the Chart Room had additional upgrades with new wall coverings and carpet.

New, 32-inch flat-screen HD televisions, new wall papers, window treatments, light fixtures, carpet and furniture, including Herman Miller office chairs, were also installed.

The Hilton Garden Inn’s common areas were also updated with new carpeting and furniture. New exercise equipment has been added to the fitness area, as well as new computers in the business center. The Inn’s new concept restaurant, Amore La Cucina, features Italian cuisine, hand-tossed pizza and build-your-own pasta dishes.
