World Beard and Moustache Championships Comes to Anchorage
 The 2009 World Beard and Moustache Championships (WBMC) will be held in Anchorage, Alaska on May 23, 2009, at the Dena’ina Center. With more than 180 delegates from 11 countries expected to attend, the WBMC is estimated to contribute $487,080 to the Anchorage economy. The host for this event is the Southcentral Alaska Beard and Moustache Club, which is committed to making the 2009 competition the biggest and best ever. This biennial celebration features competitions in various styles of beards and moustaches. From the delicate Dali moustache to the anything-goes freestyle full beard, this is one hairy competition. The event’s Anchorage debut marks its return to the North American continent for only the second time in its history! This is a unique, offbeat public event, local competitors and spectators are highly encouraged! Proceeds (100%) benefit the Miners & Trappers Lions Club charities.
