DOWNHILL CHAMPIONSHIPS UPDATE: TRAINING AND RACES ON WEATHER HOLD

GIRDWOOD, ALASKA – March 28, 2009 – Today’s men’s and women’s downhill training runs and championships are on hold due to snow. Current conditions are falling snow and poor visibility. Start times, as of 9:30 a.m., are as follows:

• Women: Downhill Training 11 a.m.; Downhill Championships 1:30 p.m.
• Men: Downhill Training Noon; Downhill Championships 2:30 p.m.

The downhill course has been altered to accommodate the race due to the upper mountain receiving more than eight inches of snow overnight. Athletes will use the Super G course, which starts at Silvertip Face.
