U.S. Alpine Championships Adds New Element to Opening Ceremonies In addition to the parade of athletes, a Native blessing, and music and dance performances by Native American Music Award (NAMA) winning group Medicine Dream and the Alaska Native Heritage Center dancers, athletes will draw for the first 30 starting positions for the next day’s races giving spectators a glimpse of the how the race order is chosen. Immediately following the opening ceremonies, athletes will sign event posters for spectators in the Daylodge.
