Thursday’s Men’s and Women’s Downhill Races Canceled

GIRDWOOD, ALASKA – March 25, 2009 – The FIS downhill races scheduled for Thursday, March 26, 2009, are canceled due to weather. Race officials are monitoring the conditions and will be resetting the course for the races scheduled for later in the week.

“We are working to get equipment off the race course and out of the weather. We will continue to watch the weather as we prepare the course for Friday’s downhill race,” said Larry Daniels, vice president of Alyeska Resort Development Company and 2009 U.S. Alpine Championships event chair. “And, while conditions aren’t favorable for racing, the rest of the mountain is open and there is plenty of great skiing.”
