ACVB Invites Alaska Residents to Stay and Play in Anchorage
Anchorage, Alaska – Feb. 25, 2009 – The Anchorage Convention & Visitors Bureau (ACVB) is inviting Alaskans across the state to stay and play in Anchorage this year. Among the tools the Bureau is using to reach out to consumers is a Stay and Play Sweepstakes that offers Alaska residents the chance to win a Big Wild Anchorage Adventure, complete with accommodations, dining, recreation, attractions and spa services in the Anchorage area. The Stay and Play Sweepstakes runs through March 1, 2009.
“Instate visitors is one of our most important markets. We’ve found that many residents outside Anchorage have yet to experience the many unique appeals that our city has to offer,” said Julie Saupe, president and CEO of ACVB. “We’ve been reaching out to Alaskans through targeted sales visits and radio blitzes in the Kenai Peninsula and Interior Alaska, inviting them to come to Anchorage to see what our Big Wild Life ™ is all about and to enjoy our city’s abundant culture, shopping and recreation.”
Alaska residents are encouraged to take advantage of this stay-cation, as well as other in-state travel deals, as an alternative to planning expensive vacations to the Lower 48 or abroad.
“With such a large and diverse state, opting to visit another region of Alaska provides a tremendous vacation experience without the added expense of traveling outside,” said ACVB Vice President of Tourism Development and Sales, David Kasser.
The sweepstakes is open to all Alaskans ages 21 and older. The prize package, which will be drawn March 2, 2009, includes admission for two to the Anchorage Museum at Rasmuson Center and the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center; gift cards valued at more than $100 to Allure Day Spa, Alyeska Resort, Glacier BrewHouse; a $100 gift card to the Sheraton Anchorage Hotel; a one-night stay for two in a room with king-size bed at the Ramada Anchorage Downtown; and a $200 Visa gift card that can be applied toward transportation costs, shopping or other activities.
To enter the sweepstakes, visit www.Anchorage.net/stay and submit a request for a free Official Guide to Anchorage by March 1, 2009. For a complete list of sweepstakes rules, explore www.Anchorage.net/2393.cfm.
The Anchorage Convention & Visitors Bureau’s (ACVB) mission is to attract and serve visitors to the Municipality of Anchorage as a Destination Marketing Organization (DMO). ACVB’s marketing functions are funded by one-third of the bed tax collected by lodging associations. One-third goes to the Municipality’s general fund, a contribution established in 1978, and one-third to service the bond debt and operations of the Anchorage Convention Centers. ACVB receives no state or federal funds. Explore www.Anchorage.net for more information.
