Recently launched at www.GoAnchorage.net, ACVB's newest travel planning innovation is an interactive "Virtual Visitor Center" designed to enthuse and engage prospective travelers with the Anchorage Big Wild Life™ experience.

Using crafted Flash animation techniques, elements of green-screen and other types of video materials, real-life Anchorage resident (and Winter Olympian) Rosey Fletcher guides visitors on all that there is to see and do from the perspective of a lifelong Alaskan and outdoor enthusiast. Winter Weekends are Jam-packed with Cool Events

Fur Rendezvous: Get Ready to Rondy, Feb. 28 - March 8, 2009. This time-aged tradition dates back to the early 1900s when trappers and miners emerged from the Alaska wilderness to trade, socialize and compete in survival-type games.

Iditarod Sled Dog Race: Mushers and more than 1,000 dogs dash toward the Bering Sea coast through rugged remote mountain ranges, snow-capped forests, and frozen lakes, dodging bear, moose and a host of other elements. It's 1,150 miles of pure adrenaline, and it begins with a Ceremonial Start, downtown Anchorage, 10 a.m., Saturday March 7, 2009.

The 2008/2009 Friends of Seymour Club is presented in partnership with 26 Glacier Cruise and Phillips Cruises & Tours.
