ACVB Names New Vice President of Communications & Marketing Programs
Anchorage, Alaska – Feb. 6, 2009 – Jeanette Anderson Moores, formerly of A M Communications, is back on board with the Anchorage Convention & Visitors Bureau (ACVB) as vice president of Communications & Marketing Programs. Moores began her work with the Bureau as public relations manager from 2000 to 2003. She continued contracting with the Bureau through her own public relations company, A M Communications, through January 2009. “Moores has a great history of producing quality products for the Bureau,” said Julie Saupe, President and CEO of Anchorage Convention & Visitors Bureau, “We are thrilled to have someone who thoroughly understands Alaska and tourism promotion to handle our communications strategy.” In her new position, Moores will be responsible for local, statewide, national and international public relations, advertising, marketing, graphics, branding image, internet (www.anchorage.net) and collateral materials developed for ACVB and its marketing partners. She will supervise a communications staff of five. Moores has more than 30 years experience in the travel industry, and more than 25 years in public relations and marketing experience. She started her career as a public relations account manager for Ogilvy & Mather/West. She also has worked as director of sales and marketing at Alyeska Resort, marketing specialist for Providence Health System Alaska and strategic communications manager for Providence Imaging Center. Moores has been recognized by multiple Public Relations Society of America Alaska Chapter Aurora Awards for work completed on behalf of, or in conjunction with ACVB. She also is an avid volunteer, having worked with programs such as the Alaska Run for Women and Ski for Women. The Anchorage Convention & Visitors Bureau’s (ACVB) mission is to attract and serve visitors to the Municipality of Anchorage as a Destination Marketing Organization (DMO). ACVB’s marketing functions are funded by one-third of the bed tax collected by lodging associations. One-third goes to the Municipality’s general fund, a contribution established in 1978, and one-third to service the bond debt and operations of the Anchorage Convention Centers.
